Conservatory -Warmer?

Hi

I am about to buy a house with a 3.65m x 3.33m new conservatory.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend how I can make this warm enough to use throughout the year. Please advise if you have done anything that's help to warm your conservatory from furnishing, blinds/curtains, flooring, heaters, roof insulation etc. I cannot afford to knock it down and build an extension for sometime, so I'm looking for reasonably low-cost ideas.

is there a socket? use an electric heater (we have one in ours). my tumble dryer is in ours and that generates warmth in our conservatory. I hate the conservatory....next house probably won`t have one!

We had an electric heater that looked like a log burner. It blew heat down on the floor and everyone commented they loved our underfloor heating. We didn't have underfloor heating. We did have a remote control to turn it on and before we got that we had it plugged into a timer switch.

We are about to have a roof put on ours in the hope that we can actually use it.
It had a radiator and we put an additional heater in - still not warm enough to use

Just installed Perfect Fit Venetian blinds and even DH has commented on how much warmer it is every morning! Ours is very similar to yours, quite large! We use an oil filled radiator to give the central heating radiator a bit of a boost and have a large rug on the floor. We've used ours as a dining room throughout the winter, so it's not absolutely freezing. We do close it up as soon as we've eaten though because it makes the living room feel cold very quickly.

We had a proper roof put on ours, its much better. We can use it all year now.

There's quite a bit you can do to make it a bit more comfortable.

Portable radiators, conservatory blinds - underfloor heating if you have the budget.

And like @ILoveWillSmith said, replacing the conservatory roof would really help with insulation as well.

You can lightweight get tiled conservatory roofs and solid roofs now with internal pelmets. These internal pelmets allow you to have a greater choice when it comes to lighting.

Conservatories these days are more like extensions.

Looks lovely and a lot like ours which we use as a dining room but have to close it off throughout winter as it’s so cold. What’s the ceiling made out of? We had a quote that fitting a proper ceiling on our 8x6m would cost £30k!!!!! Sadly way out of our budgey but hopefully someone can suggest something useful!

ILoveWillSmith that's good to hear. Ours should be going on next week, weather permitting. We will be losing the sliding doors between the sitting room and conservatory. So hoping that we don't lose any heat

We had a roof with good insulation put on ours which has made it both warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. We also have an extra oil filled radiator for a quick boost when necessary.

At our previous house we replaced the polycarb roof with a double glazed glass roof. It had some kind of coating on that kept it warmer in winter and cooler in summer. It worked really well and we used it year round without additional heating. It was a really lovely, bright room. We're planning on doing the same with the conservatory roof at our current house.
