Interior design inspiration for modest houses

We're contemplating moving in to a 1960's build house. It's very box like but I think we could make it look OK, and I'd like to look at some websites to start thinking about how I'd like to do it.

When I look on sites or at mags that I already know, like Elle decoration or Pinterest I get put off because the rooms shown there are so far from the normal, not very beautiful house to be done on a tight budget that I'm considering.

Can you suggest anywhere for me to browse please?

There's houses of all styles and sizes on Instagram that can be a great source of inspiration. Lots of accounts based on low budget improvements too

Sorry, posted to soon. I was going to suggest sticking with a 1960s vibe. Lots of inspiration on Pinterest.

Thanks you both for those ideas. I shall check them out. I was thinking something sleek and mid century modern too, but not kitsch.

Some of the homeware brand websites can have good ideas e.g. Habitat, Made.com etc

Have a look at Houseofharwoodandrose on insta. They're in the process of renovating a 1960's semi.

I love magazines for inspiration and find ideal homes to be a good mix of quality but not unrealistic for normal people in terms of style/cost :)

Instagram is great for this - I have an account that follows interiors 'influencers' that have the same type and layout house as mine. There's loads of them, you just need to search for them.

Instagram all the way... Just like PP's have mentioned; some great accounts to look to for inspiration:- search for '#renovation'. You will find accounts with all sorts going on: modern decor, traditional, grey or white colour schemes (lots of those!), very bright houses. You get the drift...

Yourhome, style at home and home style magazines are all aimed at decor on a more modest budget. Might be worth a look
