We are currently in the early stages of getting quotes to replace our carpets in our lounge and entry hall with good quality laminate. We chose laminate as seemed the most practical and affordable, also there are so many options and designs that look great. I also cant be arsed with the upkeep of real wood as we have a dog and will have kids in the future...
Anyway, I was set on having quick step, simply because I'd seen it mentioned a lot on here and elsewhere online. It is also just within our budget. We had a local guy come over last night and quote us up. He seemed very knowledgeable and actually introduced us to another brand called Lifestyle. He stated its essentially the same as quick-step is but its about £5-£10 cheaper as its a smaller brand name and doesn't have the water resistant coating (which he did say we shouldn't really require it as its for a lounge and entrance as opposed to kitchen or bathroom). He was happy for us to use quick step if we liked but after looking at the samples we saw this Lifestyle brand looked really good and if I didn't know any better I'd thought the two brands were the same! Anyways, he has quoted me up for Lifestyle and we are happy with the quote but would like him to also quote for Quick-step to see the price difference.
My question is, has anyone used this brand? If not- what are your thoughts on taking on the recommendations of a floor specialist? He seems to be an independent company and reviews on Yell are all really good. So I imagine he is just being helpful and trying to save us money. For some reason, I keep feeling like we should fork out the extra for quick-step because it keeps getting mentioned all the time but I also like to consider myself quite saavy with money so don't want to fall for good marketing.
