Melamine cupboards

Has anyone painted melamine kitchen cupboards?? Ours look awful and I want to paint over them DH is convinced it will all end badly !! Can't afford a new kitchen but would like to
Make it look at but nicer

Very doable! Just done ours with ronseal one coat cupboard and melamine paint.

Sanded them first, cleaned with white spirit, then applied with a spongey mini roller.

Don't believe the description though - it actually took 3 coats. they were wood effect before. Took about 5 days doing it here and there (13 cupboards)

They look fantastic. My DH was also sceptical when I suggested it but now pretty impressed.

What did you sand them with ?? Just sandpaper ??

I used a small sander, like this: www.screwfix.com/p/makita-bo3710-sheet-sander-240v/6330j

Quick, easy, smooth finish.

It would be doable with sandpaper, bit more arm intensive though...

If you go onto Facebook and look on the “DIY on a budget page” you’ll see tons of people who’ve done theirs. Lots and lots of ideas and recommendations.
