IM not gonna out myself here with a photo!

But i have a large one. Huge cottage one. 2 large log baskets, coal scuttle with reeds with lights on them, and a large wooden lantern. And fairy lights on the original beam.

Is yours old?

Yes I thought after I started this thread that it's a bit outing, people showing fireplaces but thank you for posting anyway.

Ours is massive in comparison to our low ceilinged lounge room. 1600's. It is the focal point of the room and I would like to put some traditional things around it just to busy it up a bit, though it does kind of speak for itself. I have a log basket and at the moment we have fairy lights (kept over from Christmas- helps us see through the winter!) but once the lights are gone it'll look quite bare.

In pubs they put objects over the beam like horse paraphernalia, badges, I even saw a trumpet type thing.

Mine dates back to at least 1830.

Please keep the lights! The can be used all year.

Do you want it to look like a pub? I have little hooks in the beam and i have slate hearts hanging. Got them from local craft fairs.

Make it personal to you. I love my scuttle and reed lights. Got them from The Range.
