Can you recommend a nice blue or grey for 10 year old boys room?

Painting ds bedroom is next on the list. It's a North West facing room but is a decent size.

Furniture is oak and won't be changed any time soon.

I was thinking of Dulux denim drift on one wall and possibly polished pebble on the others.

But if anyone has got any other ideas/pics would be grateful.

Dulux denim drift on looking it up, is a beautiful colour. But I would really lighten up the other walls, so it stands out. Contrast is the key as it is a muted blue. Polished pebble looks a bit dull, and will only bring the main colour down; can you go 1/2 shades up from it on a colour swatch? Or maybe white? Practically then you can change the accent wall to any colour he wants as he gets bigger and just paint the rest white.

Dulux sapphire something

We've just done DS' room with this blue on the walls & then Dulux Cornflower White on the ceilings, it's an attic room so has sloping ceilings. The blue has a chalky finish & looks amazing. I'm very jealous.

Something like Craig & Rose Moonstone. Lovely grey-blue. Then either one wall or furnishings in a very dark blue (dark blue and white striped duvet would look lovely). Will look really nice with pretty much all wood, with white and/or red.

Not the best photo but you get the idea

Thanks all. The dark blues look really nice. I must say I'm tempted to just embrace the blue and do the whole lot.

Topsyloulou my ds1 had that Octonauts toy and my ds2 has that dinosaur pillowcase! You might like these dinosaur wall stickers.

@pepperjack that’s exactly the colour I’m looking for! I’ve bought a few tester pots to try in our spare room and I think one of them is that Dulux one Smile

I’m not sure what to use with it, though. Are your other walls white?

pepperjack · 25/01/2019 21:37

Yes the other walls were just plain white

Atchiclees · 26/01/2019 00:17

We are doing denim drift on one wall and goose down on the other 3 walls. Did look at polished pebble but preferred goose down.

ModernStoneAgeFamily · 26/01/2019 00:48

Ds has polished pebble and one wall is tangerine twist. Pale grey carpet.

julensaor · 26/01/2019 02:08

@pepperjack, that looks really nice.

@ModernStone Jesus that is chancy, but I love orange and grey together, any pic?

Ooh. Can I jump in!? Am looking at repainting teen DS's room. It's been Mineral Mist since he was 2. Looking for a change but he still likes blue! That Denim Drift is lovely and wondering whether to put that on the chimney breast with perhaps Goose Down on other walls as already mentioned. What bedding/curtains would you put with it?

sleepwhenidie · 27/01/2019 15:54

We went for dark lead (Little Greene) for date...with White Lead on other walls.

Love that look sleepwhenidie

Wimbledonwomble my DS13 has plain light grey curtains, I’m getting some white blinds for the window in denim drift and goose down room.He has this bedding set but on the look out for another, might just go with plain. www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_306006546494?brand=bluezoo&cat1=Home&cat2=Bedding&cat3=Kids-bedding&CMP=SSH_7769505706_1331258064_65616725232&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqLnx4sWO4AIVrbftCh2F0AbSEAQYDyABEgJmcPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Wimbledonwomble · 27/01/2019 21:35

That's a lovely set Atchiclees, love the colours!

pepperjack · 27/01/2019 22:40

That grey/blue/white combo with that bedcover is lovely

Atchiclees · 27/01/2019 23:46

Thanks! It is hard to find teen boys bedding, a lot of masculine style bedding is dark and I liked the price of this too.

julensaor · 02/02/2019 01:23

@sleepwhenidie , love it but I think I love it because it is themed? The wolf makes it. The colours I would say no to, but nice room
