Amtico or Karndean as a splashback? Am I mad?

So new kitchen is going to be plain and white as it will be part of a diner /family room so I want it to be unobtrusive.
Plan is warm pale wood effect floor in Amtico or Karndean to stop the place looking like a science lab.
I'd love to have the same between worktop and Wall units, with some glass over it just behind the hob for heat protection.

Is this a ridiculous idea?

Well it’s vinyl so basically plastic, not good with heat
Also, I don’t think it will look great either

Yeah, I thought it might be a rubbish idea.

But I Really Really want "wood" between the units.
Wood effect tiles?

It wouldn't be to my taste but there's some pictures on Pinterest where people have done it.

If you type in the following into Pinterest there's some ideas.

Wren do a thing called Tek Wall which is just what I want. They recommend a glass splashback over it behind the hob.
However DH hates it so back to drawing board.
(I get my way in most decorating decisions but I throw him a bone every now and then)

The glass needs to be heat proof. Had glass in my last house and I wasn’t advise for heat proof and it cracked
