Firstly what colours are in? the room is neutrals and teal and has been for a few years. Everything seems to be greys but for how much longer? What colour schemes are 'up and coming'?

I'd love an app that helps arrange the furniture.. It's quite a decent size but every wall has some on it.
Wall 1 - the door into the room is a little off centre
wall 2 - double doors through to conservatory
wall 3 - fire and a window either side
wall 4 - main window

Do you know of such an app?

thank you

It depends how much natural light you have and the height of your ceiling. We have a period home with high ceilings so went very dark on the walls. It works and feels cosy. Still waiting for a tv stand!

Thank you, that looks lovely.
We have a good amount of natural light but the ceilings aren't particularly high. Standard door height plus about 15 inches so probably higher than a new build. It was built in the early 1980s

One magazine’s opinion www.idealhome.co.uk/news/home-decor-trends-2018-191244

All grey rooms is not a look that you will find in any magazine, but plenty of people love it. Skinny jeans aren’t found on any catwalk either but they are ubiquitous.

Not sure about the app- I just tend to move furniture around a lot Grin

I’m a designer so hopefully be able to help you out abit here!

I would avoid certain Greys it’s becoming the new magnolia, Grey is a lovely colour (when the right shade) but I generally use it to ground a space than as a main feature. If you do like Grey I would go towards the Greige tones, these are more timeless.

I wouldn’t necessarily decorate the space based on trends as you may find you get over it quickly.

I tend to stick to classic colours and bring in accents of colour through soft furnishings, artwork etc. I love to accessorise a space and allow all the features to create an impression that say just the walls. I use them to just glue it together so to speak.

Colours that are trendy and have been for a while and I don’t necessarily see disappearing soon are the soft dusky pinks, yellows more ochre shade, rich blues and navy and forest greens.

Are you doing completely make over replacing furniture etc. Or are you changing wall colour and decor pieces?

I’m not sure of any apps but you can check out sketch up and floorplanner.

Ooh I love this type of thread!

I've just decorated and opened up my fireplace as our old one was irritating me Grin I love my new living room! I went with the greige tones and took shelves down etc to open up the space ( my house isn't too spacious tbh!)

We're just left with replacing the flooring and it's done

Sorry I have been away for a few days.
BF88 - this is very helpful, thank you. I will do a sketch and post it. We aww thinking redecoration, new suite, new carpet. But keeping other furniture. We are undecided about the fire and surround.

This is the furniture

this]]

2 sets of these

this is currently in another room

and this

The fire has a matching wooden surround, dark grey slate back and 'living flame' type fire.

I will try and do a sketch now.

No more marbles yours looks brilliant!

@putthesneckon thanks Smile we booked our floor fitting this morning so nearly done!

Have you had any decisions for colours? Your furniture is lovely! I ordered a cabinet similar to yours last week but not Laura Ashley!

Something I did when I was thinking of redecorating was went for a wander around ikea and looked at their room sets. I got some good ideas there plus it's a great excuse to go to ikea! favourite place in the world

BF888
here is a plan... it's a challenging space as all walls have something on.

I follow Styling Fairy on Facebook, she puts up some great photos.
There's also a Facebook group called 'Make a house a home' and there's lots of people posting pictures of their projects and asking for ideas.
Enjoy! Wink

There is an app called modsy. I'm in the US and they're always using it on one of the design shows I watch. Looks pretty good. Not sure if it's available in the UK though and it's subscription based I think.
