New kitchen (galley style) -cost?

This is how long is a piece of string, but if you have recently had a galley style kitchen fitted, how much did you pay?

DH wants a new kitchen but I am not sure it is within our means at the moment. A rough idea might give me the impetus to get a design done etc. I don't want to get quotes and then waste their time by not going ahead.

MIL recently did that for her 4x3m kitchen with units down both long sides and not the shorts, came to a bit under £11k including hob/oven/ligthing/floor but not white goods.

She talked to a few firms and went with our local Wickes which has a kitchen planning team who were extremely helpful (and cheaper than other places). Free plan and quote. They'll love you if you come with at least a sketch of what you think you'll need, as a starting point. There's lots of 3D kitchen planner things on the web, or scribble it out on some paper.

I did a single sided galley for £1500 including all appliances, but I fitted it myself and got quite a lot of bits second hand, and reused where I could.
