Are these suppose to be blank?

I bought this earlier so my tea towels, just wondering if the chalky black bit is suppose to be blank

Yeah, you're supposed to write on it.

I think each one is meant to respond to a hook. So each person's name and any message for them is meant to be written there. But it has too many hooks.

It's just hooks, you can store whatever you want on them!
