Quote for blinds

Evening Smile

Ive been quoted 325 for 3 blinds from Hillary's or 5 for 550. Is this on the steep side? Only my first quote so don't have any comparisons and have never bought blinds before. Grin

Sorry - just noticed it’s in Home Decoration. Still a good quote though.

Blinds are expensive so it looks ok to me.

SpaSushi · 05/12/2018 20:35

What type of blinds? Roller, roman etc?

I paid about £100-200 for bespoke romans and about £80 for bespoke rollers a few years ago

SpaSushi · 05/12/2018 20:37

Oh, and go online to blinds 2 go. Or romans direct and pick a fabric and put your measurements in etc and it will give you a price to benchmark against

Hi, sorry for delay I've been painting!

This was for vertical blinds. Measuring and installation included, im worried about messing it up! But don't want to be ripped off.

You had good prices then

If you are competent then definitely blinds2go they will send you fabric samples.

If you are not so confident in your abilities, then a local company, not Hilarys. Local companies will also install them for you. There is one near me that pretty much everyone I know uses. Word of mouth recommendation, reliable etc.

Hilarys spend a lot on advertising which isn't funded out of the goodness of their hearts, so they pass that cost onto you.

Definitely get another quote, and if you want, put your measurements into blinds2go to see what it would cost for supply only.

disneyprincess87 · 06/12/2018 14:06

Thanks everyone for your advice. I have a couple of other local companies coming so I'll be able to compare.

Definitely look at Blinds2Go. We've had several from there andtheyre much cheaper and their customer service is good. We then paid someone to fit them for us.

AnnabelleLecter · 06/12/2018 14:21

I use Hillary's. I have used a local company but the blinds just weren't as nice. Sounds about right price wise, I always negotiate with them though. Ask what the best price is, January sales etc.

Nearlyadoctor · 06/12/2018 21:02

Blinds2Go are very good and excellent customer service.

Are you sure you want verticals? Fine in an office but less so in a domestic setting

disneyprincess87 · 09/12/2018 08:18

What else is there for privacy? I don't like venetian blinds and currently we have net curtains which I want to get rid of. I don't think it will look like a work environment, thees plenty of designs with patterns on... But that pushes the price up! 😬

I have used Hillarys's blind for years. Moved house a few years ago and kitted the house our top to bottom in Roman blinds. Every single one broken. I will never buy another blind from them again.

disneyprincess87 · 10/12/2018 22:28

Sorry to hear that happened to you, not what you'd expect at all. Hope they were able to replace them for you?

I very nervously used blinds2go and I am over the moon with them. They were a bargain compared to local company quotes and dare I say it nicer than the ones I had done a few years ago. Would definitely recommend giving them a go.

My mum has Hilary's blinds and they are lovely too but we're obvs more ££

flugelhorn811 · 10/12/2018 22:48

Interested to hear the feedback on Blinds2go as I need to get some new ones too.
