Painting alcoves

Which looks best? I want to paint two alcoves (with fitted units and shelves) and the chimney breast blue. The rest of the room is white. I don't know whether to take the blue round to the next wall to meet the end of the shelves like pic 1 or to end the blue at the end of the alcove wall like pic 2.

Thoughts?

I think picture 2 looks better. Especially since the edge of the shelves don't line up with the edge of the cupboard in picture 1

God, hadn't even noticed they didn't line up!

and that solves my issue - if the unit and the shelves don't line up then go with option 2!

Snap! I'm planning to do the same thing after Christmas, although I cant decide on blue or green....Anyway I would agree, option 2 looks best.

Option 2, the first one just looks weird & would annoy me every time I looked at it.
