So we inherited this bed for my eldest DD. I would like to paint it maybe a nice bright yellow colour or maybe navy. I would really would like to get it done quite.soon and don't have the space for sanding it all down. Is there a magic paint that I can use that would be suitable to go over a slightly garnished surface? Also, I'm unsure what to do with the wicker/rattan bit that is on the headboard. I suppose I would like that painted as well.
Any one got any good tips for me please.
Thanks

Hi , I would use a chalk paint, no need for sanding or undercoat. Need to apply protective wax, but is easy and quick to do. Personally I would not paint the rattan. I have painted a pine bed and it looks lovely.

Hi either chalk paint, tbh I would wax it just to protect it from wear & tear, or use eggshell with a good quality undercoat/primer ie zinsser, you could tape off the rattan area so the paint doesn’t bleed onto it.

Thanks. I had a go with rustoleum furniture paint and it's okay. I used their finishing laquer but wasn't that brill. Wish I could have found the wax I had. Anyway the kids were happy so all good.

The Aldi furniture wax is really good & much cheaper than Annie Sloan.
