Painting an attic room

We have a small attic bedroom which needs a few look. It's one window faces east, there's lots of sloping ceilings and an old cast iron fireplace on the biggest wall. I'm drawn to blues and greens but I don't want it to feel colder than it already does. It's also slightly L-shaped and that bit is particularly gloomy. I still have a huge amount of dulux's timeless leftover from another room but I think the attic needs more colour. Any recommendations? Thanks so much!

You could look at F and B borrowed light , pavilion blue or pale powder? Or do a warm toned off-white and add the colours as highlights or on woodwork?

Or, use the colour round the corner, since it's dark anyway, or vice versa?

I'd perhaps put Timeless in around the gloomy corner, at least two walls of (one big one short, I assume) and do a two-colour on the others. Ceiling timeless probably, unless the sloping parts looks too daft like that.

Perhaps a diagram :) ?

Although this is a dark colour, I thought it looked stunning in this attic room www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-67496806.html

Although borrowed light as suggested by is a stunning colour, it could look a bit minty in an east facing room especially if it’s verging on south east. I agree with lallybroch* in that a dark colour works beautifully in an already dark space. As that attic proves. I wouldn’t be painting walls different colours but keeping them all the same so you’re cacooned and cosy.

Our east facing attic room is painted all white. It feels so cosy up there and not at all cold, it has velux windows so not masses of light. We e added colour with plants and blankets.

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree, that dark attic looks stunning but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough. I might try a colour on the big wall (with the fireplace) and on two walls of the gloomy bit. But not sure what warm colours would go nicely with timeless?

You could use timeless with one of the green blues above?

Perhaps something like this?

I have borrowed light in an attic room, and it looks really nice.

@Lallybroch you've just made me want to move to Cumbria!

Those blue attic rooms pistedby Josephine are lovely but they’ve definitely floodlit the rooms for the photos.
