I am not blessed with a good eye for this kind of thing. I've got a small (3.5 x4m) sized living room. Currently off white all over, except the wall where the fireplace is...

The fireplace is jutted out from the wall and that part is white - it's just the coves either side that are wall papered. See the attached diagram. A marks where the wallpaper is.

I want the room to be painted and freshened up...but I have zero knowledge of what will go with my furniture, space and flooring...

Floors are laminate - have attached a pic. Sofa is a pale beige and furniture is shabby chic, mainly reworked wooden pieces in white, grey and dull pale blue.

I love the navy paint style at the moment but don't know that I'm brave enough to do all the rooms. Ceiling is white, also have dado rails (?Confused) about two foot from the ceiling...I probably want to keep them as they are.

Any suggestions? Grin

You could use the navy as a feature on the chimney breast wall and keep the other walls pale, eg picture 3 on the following link.

Or you could use the picture rail to your advantage. Ignore the furniture etc as they aren't your style but the pictures should give you an idea of how your room could look with navy and white/cream/silver either above or below the picture rail.
