F&B Stiffkey blue or Hague blue?

Thinking of one of these in my lounge. Has anyone used either in a lounge? Was set on stiffkey, which we have in our bedroom and really like but we chose a new sofa yesterday which is teal and I am now thinking that the darker Hague blue would be better. Both are brave, as it’s a North facing room but we have very warm coloured wooden floors and we are aiming for cosy..... Does anyone have pictures they can show me?

We have stiffkey blue in our south facing lounge

The only reason I didn't choose Hague was my neighbor has it in exact same room and I didn't want to blatantly copy!

I think Hague is a richer colour though and whenever I go in their room I prefer it. Both look Great with brass/gold /black pic frames and furniture.

Apologies but if I show you a pic it would out me Wink

Lily Pebbles (vlogger) has Hague blue in her north facing living room and it looks great, she’s got lots of pictures on Instagram you could look at

We used Stiffkey Blue in our living room simply because we wanted a more blue toned as I heard Hague Blue has a more green/teal undertone.

It's probably not very helpful & not great but here's a partial shot of our wall next to the door. Bearing in mind it's quite a dark & miserable day today!

We used it on one wall (believe it's north facing) & the other walls we left white. Looks fab & just transformed the room, much better than the wallpaper we had up there!

Here's the pic, don't know why it didn't load first time!

Hague Blue is my favourite.

Chapellass · 24/11/2018 11:44

We have stiffkey blue in a snug, NE facing. It looks amazing

ElBelle · 24/11/2018 16:03

We couldn’t decide between Stiffkey and Hague for kitchen units..... Hague seemed so dark so we went for Stiffkey, but I’m some lights that now seems really blue!
I think they look so different depending on the setting so maybe get testers of both and see how they compliment and react to the light etc in the room.

Ceilingrose · 24/11/2018 23:22

I like Hague blue best.

Snowglobes · 25/11/2018 00:14

You’re ahead of me OP as I’m trying to decide between Hague, Stiffkey or Pitch!

Snowglobes · 25/11/2018 00:16

Sorry I meant to add that a friend has Hague blue (copy) on her downstairs loo and looks fabulously dark and dramatic.

Blackgrouse · 26/11/2018 21:23

The pics are Hague Blue in our North facing room on a bright day and at night with lights on. It definitely has teal undertones, Stiffkey is more of an inky navy. We used to have Pitch Blue on the same wall but I thought it was too bright and looked slightly purple.

That's a truer pic of the colour with lamps on, the tv had made it look too bright in the other one.

If you do go with either colour I'd buy the actual F&B paint not a colour match, or at least don't get a Valspar match. I've tried a few times to colour match various dark F&B colours and they've never been accurate.

We have Hague Blue, we absolutely love it.

RainbowInACloud · 26/11/2018 21:33

Hague blue here. Love it so much

ss2011 · 27/11/2018 18:12

Thanks so much for all your replies. After seeing these we went for Hague blue. First coat is on and I am loving it! We got a Tikkurula colour match as recommended by our decorators who are using this brand a lot. Apparently they have a licence to F&B colour match.....

I know you've chosen but we went with hauge blue too! It's gorgeous but I regret using actual farrow and ball! We've used it all over the house, not hauge blue, farrow and ball and it chips off so easily!

Backgrouse, what colour is the paint in your alcoves? That's lovely with the Hague Blue.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 29/11/2018 10:24

My mum has Hague Blue in her lounge, Stiffkey Blue in the kitchen on the units and Inchyra Blue in the bedroom. Lounge is probably north facing, bedroom and kitchen are south facing. I think the Hague Blue is the nicest! She has enormous rooms, though.

I have a Valspar copy of Calke Green in my small northish lounge and I think it looks lovely!

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 29/11/2018 10:32

I love this Stiffkey living room.

Interesting to know about Tikkurula, OP, from my journeys in the land of paint buying I've come to the conclusion that Johnstone's matching is the best, but I haven't tried Tikkurula.

@FaceLikeAPairOfTits

It's Putty colour from Homebase's Home of Colour range.

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 29/11/2018 15:34

Thanks, it's lovely!

Blackgrouse · 29/11/2018 18:57

@FaceLikeAPairOfTits

Thank you, I was tempted to paint all the walls in Hague but couldn't convince my DH. The rooms north facing so it would have been very dark but I thought it would look cosy.

MarshaBradyo · 29/11/2018 19:00

Just got Stiffkey (here when bought) painted over with Hague Blue which I much prefer

I found the Stiffkey too true blue and strong on the eyes

Very picky though

ACarroll91 · 16/09/2019 14:44

Hi there, your room is so lovely :-) Can I ask what colour did you use on the other walls? I'm trying to find a nice colour to pair with Stiffkey blue.
