Paint these beams or leave them?

Hi All, total redec of Yorkshire cottage. It's a holiday let and changing to spotlights in these rooms. Keep the beams stained wood or paint white? They are not original- boxes in RSJs from when the building was converted. Do add a bit to the country style but then again maybe better light and fresh??

Leave them, they are lovely!

Bluesheep8 · 24/11/2018 12:24

Yep, I'd leave them too

LuckyKitty13 · 24/11/2018 12:26

Definitely leave them! I love them

keepingbees · 24/11/2018 12:50

I think leave them, they're a lovely colour, look genuine and it's nice to have a bit of wood for warmth/contrast

RangeRider · 24/11/2018 12:55

Leave them. If you paint them then you'll have to do them regularly. If you don't paint them then you can do nothing regularly instead!

bloodyhellimtired · 24/11/2018 13:18

I'm the only one clearly - but I'd paint them. They make the room seem closed in.

RangeRider · 24/11/2018 18:45

I get what you mean about closed in though...

Fairylea · 24/11/2018 18:47

Leave them if you want to make money on reselling because people love original features like this. But personally I’d have to paint it, it’s a bit too dark for me.

TheFaerieQueene · 24/11/2018 18:51

I’d paint them.

HJWT · 24/11/2018 18:53

I hate wood I'm all white and grey but even I wouldn't paint those!!

sanityisamyth · 24/11/2018 18:56

They're not original or authentic if they're just boxed in RSJs so I'd paint them.

shesaysgoes · 24/11/2018 18:59

If you paint them, they will look exactly like boxing for steels.

As they are it is not so obvious as to what they they are concealing. I say leave them Smile
