Powder coating an oven?

Ah kitchens..... we’ve finally decided to update our kitchen with some new doors and a bit of juggling around. We don’t have a big budget, maybe £3 grand, and that’s non-negotiable.

So- replacement doors, keeping the appliances, new light fittings, maybe a bit of tiling. The problem is this: the doors we like are erring on more contemporary (eg smooth, glossy, handleless) but we have a traditional oven (a belling farmhouse Range) which we inherited with the house. And it’s dark cream/yellow.

Is it possible to spray paint/powder coat an oven door? So maybe spray it black (or even go wild with something vivid?) and would this then open up the possibility of a more modern/contemporary door style?

I am so confused, my brain hurts with the million endless possibilities! The overall look I want is quite dark, natural wood, possible dark green or grey in there with orange/ yellow/retro accessories, brassy metals

Painting it sounds like a marvellous idea, I think it would fit with the modern scheme then. No idea how you go about it though, but if you are thinking of DIYing it, make sure it is heatproof paint, something like hammerite? I would suspect sending it off to be powder coated could cost a bomb.

Fritzy yes that’s my concern, although Belling do sell replacement doors which would suggest they could be removed? In which case the individual doors could be taken to be coated?

You might want to try people who refurbish motorcycles. Quite often motorcycle engines are painted. These get to high temperatures (unlike car bodies).

Comes in a few different colours - you would need to sandpaper and degrease the doors well before painting them.

Thanks, I will look at those. Our kitchen guy seemed to think it was relatively simple to do.
