Does anyone have one? Is this a really bad idea? There are supposedly scratch proof toughened ones out there but everyone I mention it to seems to think it's a non-starter.

I looked into getting glass, but it worked out more expensive than quartz and the company I contacted took ages to respond to emails, whereas the local company who did quartz had great customer service so I chose them. I think glass looks great though - huge range of colours and can be heat and scratch proof. Get a sample first and try scratching it, putting hot pans on it & leaving tea bags, turmeric, tomato sauce, etc on it. Thick toughened glass is a pretty robust material, so why do people say it's a non-starter?
