Stripping varnish off old doors?

I’ve just bought 3 Victorian/Edwardian doors. They have a relatively thin covering of varnish & I'm wondering what’s the best way to strip?

25-30 years ago we did a lot of stripping of woodwork etc, & used either nitromors or one of those thick pastes that lifts off, but haven’t done any of that since.

Is dipping still a thing?

Yes dipping is still a thing; we’ve just had two kitchen chairs done and they came out really well.

Oh thanks, that’s good to know Smile

There are some localish dippers left, although doors are buggers to move around even with a decent sized car

I’ll look further anyway!

Some companies will collect and deliver. Good luck!

I have found one!

They’re about an hour away, but will collect & deliver, which is great Smile

Stripping is 3x the cost of the doors, & waxing another 3x, but remembering how hideous the stripping/finishing process is I’m quite happy with that Grin
