Hi I wasn’t sure where to put this so I wrote it in here, I am wanting a rent a home as I am having a baby, what’s the first thing I should do? Will I need to apply to rent through council? Or can I just find a property on Rightmove and apply through them?

You only need to apply to the council if you want a council property. If you want a private rental, then look on rightmove or similar , in your area. You’ll need some money behind you, such as a months rent as deposit and your first months rent too. You could look online for some tips/things to ask or enquire about when speaking to the letting agent or landlord, for example how much the council tax is, what bills you could expect for gas/electric etc.

If you report this post MNHQ can move it to a better board for you (like chat) and you might get more responses and advice

There’s a guide to renting here OP.

As thenewaverage says, you can put your name down on the Council Housing list if you want a Council property. You can also put your name down with local Housing Associations.

Have a read of the guide though before you do anything and congratulations on your PG Thanks
