Sofa Dilemma

I'm planning to buy a new loveseat. I found one I love but the only problem is that it's 37 inches wide on its narrowest side and my doorways are 30 inches wide. So that one's out. I found another that I like almost as much, it's 34 inches but with removable legs which are 2.5 inches. So that gives me 31.5 inches to work with.

Has anyone had this problem? Surely there'd be a little give and it could be shoved through the doorway. Anyone else have narrow doorways? What have you done?

Thanks for any suggestions. Ikea would work but it's not my first choice.

Have you got French windows/ patio doors it could fit through? If not, sometimes you can take a UPVC window out to fit it in

Can you pivot?

It's not about the width, they basically twist and turn, so they put it in at an angle. It's about the diagonal line from top to bottom. They don't just walk it through straight.

Your door is a standard british door, so it would get through.

Thanks everyone.

No patio doors and the windows are no wider. I'm the US, the standard interior door is 32 inches. It's an older house and nothing is standard. The diagonal is still too wide.

I did find a sofa with smaller dimensions though that should work. I love it in the picture but I'll have to see if I can see it in real life.

Something in the red family. Not that I know what I'm talking about.

37inches at it's narrowest point? Bollocks. It'll go through on its side

DramaAlpaca · 30/10/2018 23:44

What they said above ^^ You stand it on its end & pivot it around the door. It'll fit through no problem.
