Help me find the perfect 'greige' paint

As the title says really. I need a warmish greige paint for our lounge. It's a big room and doesn't get loads of light due to the conservatory. We're eventually going to knock through and make a kitchen diner but that's about 5 years plus away and I hate the current colour. Needs to be not too dark if possible but not too beige or magnolia looking either but not too grey. Am I looking for the impossible?!?

I quite like the look of dulux Egyptian Cotton, but I've never actually used it and I might have terrible taste ;)

Earthborn Marbles. We have it in our hall, stairs and landing and I love it.

chequeplease · 24/10/2018 18:58

Oh I love a greige!
Farrow and Ball Cornforth white is a lovely light greige which works well in a darker room.
Or Neptune do a lovely more beigey grey which is called Silver Birch.
I could never find a Dulux that was warm enough.

Ooh @chequeplease that silver birch looks pretty perfect!;!

The perfect Greige is Laura Ashley Dove Grey. I am usually a Farrow & Ball person but this LA one is the colour I couldn't find in F&B.

Its in our bedroom and is deffo on the beige side of grey.

Dulux Egyptian cotton! It is so nice. I have it in my lounge always get compliments.

Pootlewasthebest · 24/10/2018 19:31

Farrow and Ball Skimming Stone. It looks different in different lights but I think it’s greige as opposed to grey. It’s lovely whatever it is!

The Little Greene rolling fog family. Everything from an off white upwards. We're doing our dining room in the pale shade in intelligent matt and it's lovely.

MissMarplesKnitting · 24/10/2018 19:40

F&B ammonite.

PickAChew · 24/10/2018 19:43

If you want a greyer greige, their French grey looks good. There's pics of rooms done in both on this blog (not mine, but the pics are lovely!)

Dulux just walnut is lovely

Flouff · 24/10/2018 20:37

Another vote for ammonite. Looks much better on than I thought it would. Warm pale colour that is lovely.

Bluesheep8 · 25/10/2018 06:11

Another vote for skimming stone. Have it in our lounge (copy) and it's perfect.

Dulux Rum Caramel 5. It is PERFECT and I have been searching for years. A friend originally used it as a colour match for F&B Elephant’s Breath but it’s more Skimming Stone to me. It is just lovely and I am now using it everywhere!

Another vote for Egyptian Cotton - I have it in the living areas

Ketzele · 25/10/2018 22:11

I love a good greige. Have you looked at F&B Dropcloth? Also Paint and Paper Library Tarlatan?

crumpet · 25/10/2018 22:13

Elephants Breath

Op here. Thank you for all the suggestions. Having brought what feels like a million testers we've settled on Egyptian Cotton. Thanks again to all the posters who suggested it!

It's Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. It ticks every box in any room.

Hard to get it but it's the ONE.

Titsywoo · 29/10/2018 12:32

I have egyptian cotton in my kitchen diner and it's a great colour - really warm and homely.
