Flooring for a house with children and pets...help?

So far we have tried laminate (chipped), tiles (cracked) and carpet (ruined v fast with mud/hair/ playdoh).

New house needs completely new floors. So far laminate has been the best, but still not perfect. Any ideas anyone???

Shoes off indoors but dog hair abounds and we have horses so mud falls off us and bits of hay float around the house even when outdoor clothes are taken off! Need to be able to clean up spills easily.

maybe you just need to find better quality laminate see if you can go to some stores see if anys laminate is thicker than others.Or good quality wood flooring that always worked for my aunt who has dogs horses and the family.

Good quality Vinyl lasts well and is kid and pet proof

Vinyl is better than laminate.

Something with a bit of grip. Jumping off the couch/bed onto laminate is so bad for dogs as they sort of "brace" so they don't slip. My poor terrier slipped a disc doing this and the vet said it was really common.

I think he meant the injury and not the letting the dogs on the couch...

LVT for downstairs, Karndean and Amtico are excellent but quite expensive, there are other cheaper brands.

Good quality Polypropylene carpets upstairs.

Quickstep laminate is very lasting, doesnt scratch and is waterproof

I posted this earlier on another thread, Camaro is a cheaper alternative to Karndean or Amtico. It is not as slippery as laminate, especially if you get a design with a slightly textured surface such as the wood effects.

We've got Harvey Maria vinyl tiles. They're fab. Not cold under feet, very easy to clean and the patterned ones don't show every speck of dirt.
