Tiles for kitchen & hall

Hi there. I would like to tile my kitchen and entrance. It's a fairly large space, currently with original floorboards which are tatty and extremely drafty. The property is Edwardian. I like black/white/grey tiles but they need to be quite light, nothing too garish as they're going to civer a large space. I would be grateful for ideas on what to go for. For example, should I consider vinyl or is that a mistake? Any online suppliers you would recommend? Many thanks.

In my view vinyl will look cheap and nasty. There are some lovely tiles around, eg

Alternatively get new oak flooring laid--no gaps, hardwearing, beautiful.

What’s your budget? The Neisha crosland for Fired Earth are lovely but pretty expensive.
