You Were Right About the Colour!

I posted a couple of month's ago asking for help with the colour of my dining room curtains. Some of you suggested a gold colour which I was not keen on (gold felt a bit 70's) but in the end I couldn't find another colour which looked right. So today JL came and put up my new curtains and I am so pleased I listened to you, they look fab! So I thought I should show you the finished article. Excuse the plastic tie-backs. They have to be left on for a couple of days to set the pleats. Also not sure about the runner. DH bought it before we bought the curtains and I'm not sure about it!

Here's another photo showing the carpet as well.

It's a great choice op, looks fabulous! And I ages about the runner. It's perfectly fine but in hindsight after the curtains it looks very matched up.

Looks lovely.

Nearlyadoctor · 10/10/2018 22:08

I love your wallpaper, is that from John Lewis as well?

Icequeen01 · 10/10/2018 22:31

Thank you @Nearlyadoctor. We did buy the wallpaper from JL but it is actually a Sanderson wallpaper. We also ran it through our hallway on one of the walls and it really does look lovely with the wooden flooring as well.

Looks fab!

@Icequeen01 could I possibly ask for the name of the wallpaper as I can’t find it online and it’s exactly what I’m looking for!

Icequeen01 · 11/10/2018 07:28

@Nearlyadoctor - of course, no problem. It's called Damson Tree and is from Sanderson's Potting Shed collection (No 216363). It was also available in a couple of other shades. DH tells me we didn't actually buy it from JL in the end (but that's where we found it). We went direct to Sanderson as we were worried that JL wouldn't get it in time for our decorator arriving. The photos really don't do it justice. Everyone who has visited comments on how lovely it looks.

If you do use it I would love to see some photos!

Love your carpet what is it?

Nearlyadoctor · 11/10/2018 12:36

Fabulous thank you - I’m already planning on Mulberry trees for the living room , but haven’t been able to find anything I liked for the main bedroom.

Icequeen01 · 11/10/2018 20:21

@Catmatrat - it's a Cossett carpet called Sensual Saxony and the colour is crystal. We bought it from Carpet Right.

Sounds like you have a bit of a theme going on there @Nearlyadoctor 😀 Would love to see some photos when you have some.

@dudsville - you hit the nail on the head. I couldn't work out why I didn't like the runner but you are absolutely right, it does look too matchy! The runner has been put back in the drawer!

@Icequeen01 - will definitely post some as and when, staying in rented until the middle of November whilst new central heating etc is installed . Then it’s rip out the red squirly carpet etc so maybe new year before you see any pics !

MargotLovedTom1 · 11/10/2018 20:55

I think the runner looked really good!

Catmatrat · 12/10/2018 07:16

Thanks!

Baxdream · 12/10/2018 09:30

It looks beautiful and so homely! I think we might have the same carpet 😍

Icequeen01 · 13/10/2018 17:17

Thank you @Baxdream

I think your runner looks perfect. Nothing wrong with matching!

Icequeen01 · 13/10/2018 19:29

Thanks @wildbhoysmama. DH was slightly put out that his purchase went back in the drawer but reading the comments on this thread perhaps I should get it out again!

@Icequeen01 - can I now ask what paint colour you used? I think it might slightly too dark for our room but just want to see what shades are similar but fractionally lighter.

Icequeen01 · 21/10/2018 19:49

@Nearlyadoctor - we used Farrow and Ball's Elephant's Breath. It's quite light (I think the photos make it look darker than it is). Just a slight warning, in certain lights it can have a beige tone to it rather than grey.

Nearlyadoctor · 21/10/2018 20:29

Brilliant thank you - that’s one of the colours we have been procrastinating over, I think it does look darker in your pics that it is.

Icequeen01 · 21/10/2018 20:49

I love it. We have it on one of the walls in our lounge and I'm still not sick of it!
