Hi all, looking at redecorating my living room (it's still the way the previous owners had it) and I'm totally stuck. As you can see, it's an open plan living room/dining room and don't know with it being open if both living/dining need to be the same. I do want to get rid of the wallpaper and just go for paint but feel of I do the whole room(s) the one colour it might be a bit boring? Have feature walls had their time? What would you do if this was your living/dining room? My living room is north west facing and my dining room south east which gets alot more light. Any help would be appreciated.

I would choose different colours because both rooms are clearly separated and for different purposes. It's open plan but the archway does provide a separation.

I'd go for something darker and more intimate in the dining area since it gets more light.

Are you keeping the floor, furniture and fire?

Yes sorry should have said, all furniture is staying. It's pretty much walls, curtains cushions etc that I'm changing.

It's quite cold looking, so I'd go for something warmer, I think I'd go for a pale eau de nil in the living room area and something a dark duck egg in the dining area. Laura Ashley do both.

Pale eau de nil.

Yes I agree, all walls bar the feature are in pure brilliant white so it does feel cold and slightly dingy in certain lights.
