I’ve found a bed frame I like and think I want this Ikea mattress in the firm type. Any reviews?

We bought one ten years ago. It was awful, turned into a lumpy mess!

But, we bought another 8 months ago after reading Which? reviews and its fantastic. Two Ikea ones were rated best buys and we got the less expensive one as it was in stock. Both had the choice of medium or firm I think.

Polkapjs · 05/10/2018 20:33

Ooh. Hope it’s made by the same people now as 8 months ago!

We have some IKEA mattress or another. It wasn't cheap but it's 5 years old now and still as good as new

Haberpop · 05/10/2018 20:36

I had that mattress about 2 years ago, it was the best inexpensive mattress I have ever had. I would definitely buy one again.

RooDaisy · 05/10/2018 20:37

I love mine! It's so comfy & reasonably priced I think. I'm sure you can try it for 3 months and take it back if you don't like it

Love mumsnet for this. Thank you!!

I have the kingsize halstad (sp?) and I LOVE it. Every other 'firm' mattress was weirdly soft!

Bluntness100 · 05/10/2018 22:21

I got a medium one for my daughter and guests who stay say it's the best mattress ever. I've never slept in it, but it's as good as new and it's several years old. However my daughter is quite slim and generally iis just her sleeping in it, unless she gives it up to guests.

But, yeah, several have commented it's a brilliant mattress.

dinosaurkisses · 05/10/2018 22:24

I bought the cheapest mattress for DH and I’s bed and I shit you not, it’s the most comfortable bed I’ve ever had.

We’ve had it a year now and it’s still as good as the day it was delivered- brilliant value so I’d definitely recommend it.

StateofIndependance · 05/10/2018 22:26

Be aware the foam topping does it make it quite hot to sleep on if that's an issue for you.

BuffyChiro · 05/10/2018 22:29

I have had the exact same mattress (Hovag) in firm for the past few years now and I love it - it’s so comfy. I’m just about to move into a new house and have bought a new bed frame and a new one of the same mattress. The older mattress is still as comfy as ever, that one is going to stay at my parent’s house - it’s not that it’s worn out and needs getting rid of. Would definitely recommend!

HannahHut · 05/10/2018 22:58

Got the exact same one, firm and I love it! Laying on it now actually.

It felt too firm at first but now I'm used to it it has been a godsend for my bad back.

Polkapjs · 06/10/2018 14:59

Sold! Would it be awful to order it while husband is away??!

We have the HAFSLO, firm, in both the single and double sizes. Cheapest sprung mattress (double £85), but we have had them a year and they have been great. I can't sleep with a mattress topper or extra soft layer so some of the more expensive mattresses were not an option.

TheSteakBakeOfAwesome · 08/10/2018 10:11

I can't remember which one we had but it developed a horrific sag in it to the point it was unusable after a year or so - reported it to Ikea who came out and inspected it, accepted there was a manufacturing fault on it and replaced it with their current model without any arguments.

Unlike Bensons for Fucking Beds who will do anything to avoid replacing faulty goods.

youvegottobekidding · 08/10/2018 22:24

Sorry to hijack - but can I ask do ikea single/double mattresses fit standard single/double bed frames? I only ask as about 2 years ago I remember I got dd a single duvet cover from there & it was too big for her single quilt cover which was purchased from somewhere else, so I know their bedding is different sizing just wondering if their mattresses are also? We're on the hunt for new mattresses also but not beds & thinking of getting them from ikea.

LittleBLUEsmurfHouse · 09/10/2018 23:39

you've they do mattresses and bed frames in both uk single size (190cm long) and European single size (200cm long). So you need to look carefully which you buy.
