Hi everyone, looking for any tips on choosing a colour to paint my living room/dining room (open plan with window at both ends of the room, South/East and North/West facing). Had looked at Farrow & Ball Conforth White, albeit a colour match and I found it to be a bit blue and cold looking in my room. I have a grey couch that seems to have green undertones to it and dark wood flooring. Just looking for a neutral colour that would look cosy and don't know whether do do all walls same colour or habe a feature wall/2 tone...not sure what's in these days...any help would be appreciated.

I have just painted my kitchen in sunshine yellow. It is a light and creamy shade and its lovely. I have alot left over and I am considering painting my living/dinning room as well. I have a large window at one end and a patio door at the other. Like you we have dark floors but are settee are brown with some green in cushions. My kitchen looks so bright and cosy and just feels lovely for going into the winter months as well x

I have a similar room, I did it in pebble shore by dulux (not polished pebble as that's quite a cold blue grey) and it's lovely sometimes looking neutral sometimes grey. I did two walls in a very dark blue which I chose from Valspar and have lots of compliments.

Thanks for these recommendations, I like the sound of both. Like the look of this pebble shore so might pick up a wee tester :)

F&B Shaded White grey with green undertones. Shadow White also meant to be nice but haven't tried it yet. Most of my last house was Shaded White, I love it.

We have F &B elephants breath colour match in large living room with dark wood floor and neutral sofas. Windows at each end south and north facing.
Lovely in all the different lights of room and day / night. Sometimes very pale lilac to the colour. But mostly grey shades.
I can't recommend it enough.

F&B mizzle is a good neutral it’s a greeny grey, could work quite well.

Dulux Egyptian Cotton is a fantastic warm griege that goes with anything and looks more expensive that it is.

Just doing my living room now. My paper came from b&q , says it's paintable but the pattern is lovely so I'm keeping it off white. Just ordered curtains and shades from dunelm in light grey/ochre. Carpet and sofa end of the month also in light grey.

We've just completed ours today! Very different though - deep mustardy / gold tones in a small East facing sitting room. "Get up and Go" from Valspar and "Cuppa Tea" on the chimney breast. Wish I knew how to post photos as I'm thrilled with it!

Worked it out!

@baby1702 what brand is your sunshine yellow please? Any photos?

Baby1702 · 07/10/2018 07:55

@snowglobes it is actually just from wilko. It's coverage is fantastic as well, really only needed one coat 😁

Use the back of a piece off a wallpaper roll or lining paper to paint a decent area of your sample paint then you can move it round the room to see how it looks in different light.
