Blackout thing for blinds - flashing light outside bedroom

New zebra crossing just built outside my block of flats. Flashing light is perfect height for mine and the children’s bedroom Sad tried to sleep through the flashing last night but it drove me mad!
I’ve got thick curtains and Venetian blinds but the light is getting through the edges, is there some kind of blackout thing that blocks the actual window frame?

Does the light have an anti glare hood? They make the lift visible only to oncoming traffic. Worth asking the council for one if not. The baby blackout blinds that you use suction cups on the window are really good, we stayed in a hotel in Dublin and it had the same problem with a flashing light, the Gro-anywhere Black our blind saved the day. Might be worth it as a temporary fix

I'd contact your council. The flashing crossing lights should be fitted with a solid blocker on your side, so that the light isn't flashing in your windows.

Simple solution would be a "gro" black out blind (it has little suckers to attach to window frame) or I've even used cardboard and sellotape when desperate.

Longer term what about the blinds used on velux windows that fully cover without gaps?

Thank you both, I will contact the council today as my neighbour has reported the same problem, might go and check with the neighbours above and below me too.
Yes the gro blind was the one I was thinking of but couldn’t think of the name.
Will see what the council say before I get anything permanent.

Good luck with the council, how miserable for you all

Cassette roller blinds (eg Bloc Out brand) would be a full built in solution but not cheap
