Cost of just having the woodwork painted

I don't mind doing the walls etc but at some point soon the internal woodwork (skirting boards, windowsills and doors) is going to need redoing.

It's a pita to do yourself and I never get a neat enough finish.

Has anyone had a decorate just do this and how much did it cost you?

£20-40 per room dependent on size and numbers of doors and windows.

When I got the same people to do the walls too they did all the woodwork for an extra £20. After seeing what a good job and how quick they did the walls I'm converted to paying the little extra for someone to paint for me!

That is very cheap indeed. I was quoted £300 for two doors and skirting.

I would say that's absurdly cheap the paint alone would be over 1/2 that quote and I dread what it would like. It's incredibly time consuming to do

Also you don't say what you paid to have the walls done it may be that they charged you that as you were Paying top whack for the walls....did they all get rubbed down, primed and double top coated?

Wow - I did think it was a good deal! No it was a standard repaint, two coats over what was there. It was about £80 (not inc paint) for the room, then extra £20 for the skirting and one window sill.
Seems there is huge variation - FWIW the guy I used was local and was recommended on online rating websites and local residents. He was young and might just be building up a reputation hence the good price.

wow, louise - that is cheap - though, I think, from what you say there was none of the sanding down preparation and priming?

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 04/01/2019 11:55

I was quoted £180 for one room incl. picture rail, skirting, 3 doors (one is a tall understairs cupboard door). In the SE.

(that didn't include paint)
