Anyone replaced kitchen cupboard doors?

Hi ladies

I am buying a new build property which comes with a choice of basic kitchen units, with very basic doors as standard or I can pay to upgrade to better quality unit doors which are nice but the choice in the upgrade range is limited.

I am considering whether it may be best to just take the basic ones then get the doors replaced and then I can choose from the whole of thr market. The only thing holding me back however, is that this might work out a lot more expensive than just upgrading with the builder, who has quoted £1,400 for the kitchen and utility. It's a reasonable sized kitchen with integrated washing machine and dishwasher.

Has anyone replaced the doors on their kitchen units and able to tell me how much they paid please? I would just like to have a very rough idea of how much I should expect to pay for decent (not top end) quality doors includinb installation before I make a decision.

Thanks in advance!

Following! I need to replace my doors, I was thinking of using one of those companies that measure up and supply the doors.
'Kitchen Magic' and the like.

I have never heard of kitchen magic but will have a Google now, thanks!

Maybe the builder will give you units with no doors, and a discount!

Have a look at Hotdoorsuk, we’re in the process of changing doors and adding a couple of units as an interim measure in a house we’ve just bought and the quality is excellent. If you know how many doors, drawer fronts etc just pop them in your basket and it’ll give you a price. Lots and lots of choice too.

We did. It was about £2500 and we got two new cupboards and a set of four or five new drawers as well. Transformed the look of the kitchen.

We replaced our kitchen doors this summer using this company. We bought 10 base unit doors and 6 drawer fronts. We had the holes for the hinges drilled, after taking very careful measurements, and fitted them ourselves; it was surprisingly straightforward! The whole lot came to about £330, including handles.

We've just had a kitchen refit.
I don't know much about doors, on their own, admittedly.

BUT, My gut reaction is that in the scheme of kitchens, generally, that are overall very very expensive, £1400 seems absolutely bugger all to spend, and if the doors were at all decent, I'd bite the builders hand off at that deal.

Rereading I would def go with builders offer, too!

Thanks for all of the replies. The lady in the sales office told me there is a significant mark up on the upgrades and said if it were her, she would go with the basics and upgrade later seperately but I'm thinking I wouldn't be paying for the fitting so surely it works out cheaper to upgrade with the builders. Just a shame the upgrade range is so limited.

Unless you ask the builder if he could fit you doors privately.
