DH and I are renovating a house and it's been a dilemma to say the least trying to find a compromise of what we both like, as we have very different tastes.

I was just wondering what people thought of cream kitchen doors with a white worktop? Specifically, white quartz and shaker style doors.

I'm unsure if cream and white really "go" together on one hand but then on the other I've seen some photos on Pinterest of kitchens that look lovely. I'm so indecisive!

So any thoughts (or alternative suggestions!) would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a house you are going to live in? If so, have what you like. I like the marble looking quartzes and some of those may have veining that will have some cream in it and that would tie things together really well.

Hi mumsnet family,

My husband and I are looking to move to Harrow in mid-October this year because he has recently been offered a new job in central London and the commuting from there is far better than where we live now.

The company offered him quite a good salary (better than both our current jobs) so it didn't take us long to decide if we should take the offer or not.

The only problem is, we're from a small town and as anyone who's visited London from outside knows, London is like its own country, where you can easily get lost or caught up in its fast-paced lifestyle.

That's why I'm asking if anyone knows of a good grammar school for my two sons, that along with if anyone knows where I can get a few new household things for my kitchen and bedroom wardrobes.

We thought if we're starting a new life in the big city, we may as well do it right.

So any recommendations would be great.

Thanks

I think white quartz work top with white gloss doors or cream doors with light wood worktop.

My sister in law was looking for a grammar school for her daughter in Harrow but the closest ones are actually in Barnet or Buckinghamshire. She ended up going with Henrietta Barnet school and she's so happy there, learning more than we ever did :p

However it's tough to get in as I helped my niece do her test, so do your research. www.11plusguide.com helped alot.. Thankfully I have some time before my little boy goes off to school :)

I've recommended this bedroom company a few times to mums here and they have had great experiences, they really are luxurious and affordable. Capital Bedrooms did my wardrobes, you can see their site www.capitalbedrooms.co.uk and they do kitchens too.

If you pm me your email, I'll send you pictures of my rooms and who I saw at Capital. Good luck with your move and house x

To the original poster, my mum's kitchen has cream doors but she went with grey quartz. I helped her design her kitchen and I would say it depends on how much light comes through the kitchen as white and cream will make it look like a pale kitchen.

The grey quartz is stunning and compliments the cream doors as it is a kitchen with a lot of natural light. Grey is something I would not have thought about mixing with cream. Anyway I would have a different quartz colour, slightly darker shades to contrast. Hope that helps

I think Capital Bedrooms can give you a 3d image of the kitchen in colour to see what it will look like :)

Okay, I will see to it and visit their site.

Thank you for your advice. I was really very much worried about my daughter's grammar school. I will surely check it out the school as well as visit the Capital website for my kitchen interior. Once again thank you.

Hey!
I totally understand your dilemma. It does get difficult when it comes to re-doing a kitchen. And yes white does look good with cream. It gives a very classy look. I have my living room done up in that combination. I even have a wardrobe in that combination which I got customised for Metro wardrobes.
Who don’t you see some more options online and Only then make up your mind?

I’m having Cream doors and a green worktop. It is shades of soft green with a very small amount of raspberry sprinkles. Dam can’t remember the name something Lara
