Planning to move DD into a bed soon (she's 2.9 at the mo) and need to move furniture around to increase/change storage space in her room (which is tiny).

At the moment she's just got a 3 drawer chest of drawers and I'd really like to get a wardrobe for her so clothes can be hung up too. It needs to fit in a space no wider than 90cm. Are there such things as wardrobes with two hanging rails, one above the other?

I would think you could get one with two rails but we put another rail in DS's wardrobe.

The wardrobe was there before he was born and had to fit the height of the eaves, so is about 180cm ish tall. We put a second rail in a few years ago and as his clothes have grown, we took out the shelf at the top of the wardrobe and repostioned. I'ts an old MFI freestanding one and is still really sturdy

You get loadsblike this, or as op said it’s easy enough to hang a second rail. We’ve a cute one from the white company that came with a second rail, but im sure it’s a bit wider than 90cm.
I’ve also seen them in ikea, and I’m sure mamas and papas ones all have second rails too.
You’re better looking for a wardrobe you love which matches the decor, then looking at adding a second rail.

We have this

We have had it for 7 years, where it’s been in both DC’s rooms, moved a few times, been used for hide n seek.... all sorts of stuff. Utterly bombproof, and they delivered it ready built. It’s not cheap, but it is 80 can wide! We were do impressed with it that we bought DS’s bed and bedside table from them too, and will get DD a bed from them too when she grows out of the one she’s in.

Thank you people.
To add, I'm not fussed about decor, we didn't decorate it as a nursery when I was pregnant, just stayed with the original blue walls and blue check curtains we put in there when we moved in. The existing furniture is all from our precious single homes and/or secondhand so nothing matches or is any particular style. We have zero DIY skills so how easy is it to put up a second rail?

@BikeRunSki ooh that looks like exactly what I'm looking for! I like the fact you can configure it in different ways. Thank you

Ikea do a couple of ranges where you can choose the number of rails and shelves. Stuva, which is a kids range and new one called platsa. The stuva ones are all 60cm wide and the platsa ones come either 60cm or 80cm.

IKEA stubs, pax or platsa. Easy to change internal design around if you want different layout when they are older.

HomeOfMyOwn · 08/09/2018 20:12

*stuva not stubs!

BarryTheKestrel · 08/09/2018 20:13

We have an IKEA stuva with 2 rails, 2 shelves and 3 wire drawers. Perfect amount of storage in a small wardrobe space.
