Dark green recommendations for sitting room

Hi, I have a long narrow sitting room and would like to paint 1 wall a very dark green as in the attached pictures. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a brand and colour name?
Also is it awful to have it on just 1 wall? It would be the wall at the end to try to visually shorten the room. I would love it on all walls but dh says too dark.
Thanks Smile

I think it would look great, I’m considering it in my house

Twigwonderkid · 08/09/2018 14:16

Yay thanks for the reassurance. Yes that colour but in emulsion. I can't seem to find one dark enough!

Ooh, I thought about this for my bedroom but talked myself out of it because I'm a wimp. There are some lovely dark greens in the Valspar range in B&Q.

SwedishEdith · 08/09/2018 17:55

Obsidian Green - Little Greene.

PickAChew · 08/09/2018 17:59

Obsidian green is almost black.

Mid Azure Green might work, though.

Thanks for the photo corkscrew! Looks great and so good to see a real photo rather than the adverts. Definitely going for it now! Checking out Valspar and little green now, thanks Smile

Have you considered a teal blue /green? I like Inchyra blue.

sleepycat13 · 09/09/2018 08:37

I'm after this colour too. love those picture from your op twig.
let me know if you have any luck. valspar do have a good selection but I'm put off using them

Twigwonderkid · 09/09/2018 13:38

Inchyra blue is lovely but I think I am more sold on the green. We have just been to bandq for some Valspar swatches (Little green was perfect but too expensive). Can I ask what puts you off Valspar? Have I missed something, I had never heard of it until this thread! I like Sacred Grove and Catherdral blue but Dh says they are too dark. He likes Forest symphony and hidden gem. Hmmmm

My phone made those look much much lighter than they are!

We found it really hard to find the right dark green. F and b were great with blues but didn't have a nice green..... Either black or too light.
In the end we went to the valspar desk at b and q and got a really dark green ?trellis something. Anyway we did a few coats and it looked awful so bought some of their "premium" paint and did a coat of that and I like it now.
Our whole bedroom is v dark green now with lots of gold and green and antique maple furniture. Love it

Oh my goodness thank you for warning me!

I would agree with the reviews.... Although the v700 was miles better than the other one it took a lot of coats and the finish is nowhere near as good as other brands

sleepycat13 · 09/09/2018 14:04

I'm put off by the reports of valspar smelling like cat wee and the difficulty getting rid of that smell even when painted over. also I did use a small tin of it once to see what it was like and I found it quite uneven. didn't seem like good quality paint and talking to a decorator recently he said never use valspar as they are not very good. suggested dulux trade or Johnstones trade colour matching as an alternative.

talking of Johnstones they do seem to have some nice greens in their colour of 2019 range but never actually been to one of there decorator centres so need to investigate I think

Twigwonderkid · 09/09/2018 17:30

Yes I don't want the cat pee smell! This thread is now changing from which is a nice green paint? To where can I get a dark green paint that doesn't cost £48 for 1 wall or smell like cat pee, Grin.
I have tried dulux, crown, farrow and ball, wilko, johnstones, wickes, homebase and bandq.

So johnstones colour of the year 2019 will be the one! I am just ahead of the times
Anyone know when I can buy it?
