I succumbed to the idea of looking at them online, I got a similar one from Argos because IKEA is too far away for me! But it's honestly the best thing ever! I'm using it as a bedside table as it has so much room!!

You called?

They are fucking amazing - we have them all over in the house - make the place look so much tidier when you can shove all the kids toys and the like in boxes and put it away attractively.

ThanksHunkyJesus · 27/08/2018 22:10

I'm thinking of getting these but they seem expensive ... do they really last?

5000KallaxHoles · 27/08/2018 22:14

They're about the only feature in this house that hasn't got bashed to shit in months if that helps?! Clumsy as fuck DH, two young kids - one who is very dyspraxic and a dog that is as thick as mince so everything tends to look knackered fast - apart from the kallax. I've got it in the porch to store shoes and school bags in, in the lounge with drawer inserts for hair bobbles and the like, and then the kids toys are all in a run of units as well.

Avoid their cheaper thin framed stuff that takes the same size boxes - nowhere near as good or easy to put together (we've got it in the playroom as we were pushed for cash then).

The Ikea Kallax are great, really sturdy.

Blueemeraldagain · 27/08/2018 22:24

I love them. I have 5 (2 4x2, 2 4x1 and 1 2x2) in my tiny, tiny flat. They store everything! It makes me so happy to see all of DP’s cycling and refereeing stuff disappear! I also use a 4x2 to divide my kitchen from my living room.

I find them pretty reasonably priced and very hard wearing.

ShootingQuadrantids · 27/08/2018 22:32

DS has just got a 2x4 for his room at uni. He had a 2x2 last year in his tiny room in halls. They're amazing and I'm thinking that they look quite stylish. We have friends on the continent and they seem to have these in their homes too. ALL RISE FOR THE MIGHTY KALLAX OF HIDDEN DEPTHS!

HomeOfMyOwn · 27/08/2018 22:35

Love my kallax (I have 3 - two 2x2 and one gigantic 4x4) fantastic use of space creates so much storage which doesn't help my hoarding tendancies

The fact you can change what types of storage each bit is makes them very versatile when you have DC and changing needs overtime.

lovelifex4 · 28/08/2018 12:14

I love them got lots in my house did have the Argos ones before but there not as well made & boxes to go in them are more expensive

ChiaraRimini · 28/08/2018 14:12

They are a modern classic- super easy to build and they don't break. I think the simple construction is the key to their success. Unlike the Ikea drawer units we have had which have fallen to bits.
There is a good variety of inserts and boxes you can use to keep little bits and bobs in them. We have a study full of them plus also have them in the kids rooms.

JakePeraltaNYPD · 14/09/2018 10:18

Sorry all just remembered to check this thread! I don't have boxes in them, I have a cute copper and white wire basket for makeup storage, then lots of books and a grey and white woven basket for my bullet journal supplies :)

@5000KallaxHoles love the user name!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 14/09/2018 12:45

I got the Argos version, just as good, only £35 for a 2x4.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 14/09/2018 12:45

Not Argos, Homebase! Literally no idea why I wrote Argos Confused

dontcallmelen · 14/09/2018 14:26

@Tiffany would you know if the Homebase units fit the Kallax storage boxes? Just that Homebase a bit nearer thanks.

HomeOfMyOwn · 14/09/2018 19:55

Tiffany Argos and home base are linked and items like that are sold by both and are the same thing, so homebase ones will be the same as Argos ones.

HomeOfMyOwn · 14/09/2018 19:58

don't I recently got free delivery from IKEA. I added some stuff to my basket (when logged in) but didn't buy it then a couple of weeks later I logged in to buy it and the delivery was free. Might be worth a try?

DragonNoodleCake · 14/09/2018 20:01

I have...1 of the 4x4, 3 of the 2x4, 3 of the 2x2 and 1 of the 1x4 in my house 😀

CuntyMcFuckerson · 14/09/2018 20:10

When buying your 3628 kallax units make sure you have/swipe your Ikea card. If you fuck up building it (looks at DH!) you can take it back and they'll replace it for you. That goes for all Ikea furniture btw.

I proper love kallax. Actually I love kallax and proper love expedit. Fuckers changed it ever so slightly and now mine doesn't all match.

Ours holds many many toys, 7896 records, my large collection of Easter, Halloween, and Christmas decorations, cook books, The Sock Box, school bags and jackets, and assorted other things.

I'm now wondering how many holes we have. Grin

PrivateParkin · 14/09/2018 20:17

I love Kallax too. It's the only thing that prompts me to tidy up, because it's just so effortless to chuck stuff in the boxes. They're brilliant.

dontcallmelen · 14/09/2018 21:01

Home thanks will that a try.

JakePeraltaNYPD · 15/09/2018 10:21

I'm thinking about ordering another one (a nice IKEA one to treat myself!) to store my record player and my vinyls GrinGrin
