Local Alternative to Oak Furniture Land?

Would like to buy some solid oak bedroom furniture, but it seems to only exist in my imagination or in Oak Furniture Land. I would prefer to use a local/UK company, as I believe OFL import everything from China.

Is there a UK based company with solid oak furniture (no veneer)?

Admittedly it was a good 5/6 years ago when we looked at Oak Furniture land but the backs of these items were very flimsy and tbh we were put off. Are they better now ?

TBH it looks very nice in the showroom. I am worried it won't last though!

I also had a look at John Lewis and M&S furniture today, and wasn't much impressed by that either.... The veneer on the John Lewis "oak" furniture was already peeling off on their showroom demo, so that was a massive no-no right away!

Hence the reason for trying to find solid oak rather than oak/veneer combo furniture. I can't seem to find anywhere that does it (except OFL).

Hope someone comes along with the answer as I'm interested also !

Ercol but I think that also uses some oak veneers, the style is much nicer than OFL though which always looks a bit chunky, though that is just my taste. Worth a look on their factory outlet page as it can be a bit pricy

We have some OFL pieces. Surviving well. Good customer service and delivery.

Have a drive around villages and the small outlet places, you'll often find local people making furniture out of reclaimed wood.

We have two local places that I can think of. You probably have too. Either Google or say where you are based so people near you can help you.

Indigo furniture are uk based/built and use solid oak. I’ve brought a kitchen table and chairs as well as our leather sofas from them and plan to buy a lot more very soon! They often have 15% off but if you’re buying a lot it’s worth negotiating for a better deal, we managed to get a few extras thrown in!

I don't know where in the country you are, but my parents and brother have tons of furniture from this place in Somerset, and it's all still going strong after 20+ years: www.oldcreameryfurniture.com

My OFL stuff is still in great condition after 6 years and a house move. It's not my style at all anymore but it's such good quality I cannot find anything decent to replace it with. Even the ££££ stuff seems to be particleboard.
