a 'black canvas' - need decor inspiration

So basically OH and me decided on getting hardwood flooring for our living room and dining and bedroom.
We found some really nice solid oak hardwood floor which was cheaper than any laminate alternative but the only catch is the floor is painted black. The idea is to utilise the black colour now and somewhere down the line sand it and varnish it to it natural state.
So basically I m looking for inspiration on how to decorate my living/dining room and my bedroom. I shall attach the pictures of the living area with bedroom pictures to follow later on. So the one with the fireplace is the living room. While the smaller room is the dining room. So need advice on furnishings and paint/wallpaper basically everything.
So please please help me decorate as I have a bit of a mindblock at the moment. Thank you.

I think I’d keep the walls fairly light/neutral. Definitely invest in some nice rugs. The black will show them off nicely and can help you pull together colours in the rest of the room.

What styles and colours are you drawn towards? Personally I wouldn’t go for anything too bright or bold. I’d definitely use colour, but muted versions.

Thank you for your reply Kismett. We were thinking of a grey sofa and may be accent arm chairs which could add sw colour into the room. What colour curtains would you suggest?

I think that really depends on what feeling you want. I take back what I said about bold colours as I saw some that look really nice. I’ve added some pins below so you can see what I mean.

In the last two, the yellow and orange are nice focal points and really stand out with the high contrast look. In the first pic, you can see some orange in that painting, but it’s tone down with all the greys and blues.

They’re both nice looks and you could imagine other colours there, like a bright purple or a subtle pinky purple in the painting. I think you could make quite a few colour schemes work.

Do you have anything you were leaning toward?

Also I found this article, don’t know if it’s useful to you.
