Shutters for our new build house - MDF or hardwood?

Hi all,

We moved into our new build house a few weeks ago and are looking at getting plantation shutters in all the rooms.

The big question is whether to go with MDF or hardwood? There is about a £500 difference in cost which in the grand scheme of things isn’t completely make or break.

If I was putting them in a beautiful period property, there would be no doubt about using hardwood shutters but I can’t help wonder if the hardwood is lost on a new build?

What would you go for or what do you have?

We have both! Hardwood ones in rooms where they are painted, mdf where we just needed plain white. The mdf ones are absolutely fine. New build here too.
