Best home magazine?

GimbleInTheWabe · 31/07/2018 09:38

It's my birthday soon and my DM usually asks me if there's anything I'd like. Thinking of asking for a home magazine subscription but don't know which to go for ad there's so much choice!
I have a 9mo DS so it will be my 'thank god he's asleep - now relax' thing to enjoy so I want to choose wisely.
My style is probably v basic greige scandi look so not twee/country living style or too flashy.
Any recommendations are graciously received and TIA

I am an interior designer and have lots of subscriptions, but it sounds like Ideal Home would be the best for you. It has real life homes in it, and lots of those are in Sweden or Denmark!

Thanks for the rec @Swifey, I'll take a look. Can I ask what is your fave subscription? I used to love all the niche/indie fashion magazines when I was younger so would love if there was a similar interiors one.
In fact I have about 100 questions I'd love to ask an interior designer- you should do an AMA!

I'd second ideal home. I've had a subscription for Christmas for the last few years. Love it.

Do you look at Houzz. I love interiors magazine but I tend to just look for things I already have or like in them so I don't buy them. I like Elle Decor.

Thanks for the vote for Ideal home @Bluesheep8.

Yes I do like Houzz @MikeUniformMike though I find the user interface a bit too ad heavy and clunky sometimes, same with Pinterest really. Also I feel like I spend so long on my phone, hence the magazine hankering!

I prefer reading things on paper.
It's a bit of a luxury to get a magazine so it's a great idea. Enjoy it.
I'd be interested in an AMA too.

I used to love Real Homes but they've just given the magazine a makeover and I didn't like the new version as much.

I love —and spend too much money on— Ideal Home, House Beautiful, Living Etc, Real Homes. There are more but I think you would like these.
Enjoy.

25 beautiful homes is the best out of all my subscriptions!

Whatsnewwithyou · 01/08/2018 14:03

If you subscribe to Amazon prime you get to read a lot of these free online, including Ideal Home and about 5 or so other hone decorating magazines. Al.ost as good as on paper and much cheaper if you want to read more than one.

GimbleInTheWabe · 01/08/2018 17:47

Ooh thanks for that @Whatsnewwithyou I do have amazon prime! Will check that out now!

The other option is "Readly". It also has all the back copies of the magazines. I have a subscription, and it costs less per month than 2 magazines. My DH and best friend share the log in too. Saves me a fortune!!

Floralnomad · 01/08/2018 18:32

I was also going to recommend Readly , I share with dsis , dd and dh , it’s brilliant .

Thanks for the Amazon Prime magazines tip whatsnewwithyou. We have Amazon Prime & I had no idea we could get free mags to read. Just downloaded my first one Flowers
