In-frame kitchens and high ceilings

We've paid for our kitchen only to be told that they can't supply an in-frame kitchen in the taller unit spec. We are left with either having a standard sized cupboard and a 3ft gap to the ceiling, choosing an mock in-frame style and having the tall cupboards or an option 3 that we haven't yet figured out.

I'm worried that an in-frame with a huge gap between the ceiling and top of the cupboard is going to look awful. DH thinks that a mock in-frame style kitchen will look bad. We're keeping the units fairly traditional as it's an Edwardian house. Has anyone encountered similar issues? Or does anyone have suggestions that we haven't considered?

Thank you Smile

Find a new kitchen company?

Sorry, that may be unhelpful, but I have high ceilings and love the face the the units go all the way up. I'd worry they'd be a junk/ dust trap otherwise.

It's a bit too late in the process now as we have builders booked in too. That's exactly what I think, I'm pretty annoyed to be honest.

Is it possible to get smaller cabinets above the normal ones? Like this picture.

Could you get the base units in and then find a joiner to make some taller wall units.

Thanks for your suggestions. DH has just found a similar idea but with book shelves / cases above the kitchen units. We're going to ask the kitchen company and see what they say as they've effectively sold us a kitchen that doesn't exist.
