Confused it appears to be a phrase Next has made up, does it maybe mean occasional use?

LemonBreeland · 26/07/2018 20:52

Too feckig uncomfortable for everyday use?
Not sturdy enough for everyday use?

Very strange!

kenandbarbie · 26/07/2018 21:09

Yeah I googled it and only next comes up Hmm

I think it could be one of two things

  1. not for every day use
  2. a sofa for slouching/slobbing on
Stephisaur · 26/07/2018 21:54

I think it must be more of a perchy sofa rather than a loungey sofa.

Like, sit on it politely rather than sprawl on it in your underwear.

I wondered about this too, so I emailed Next and have just received this reply: "The 'Casual Sit' is made of shredded foam fibres whereas the 'Formal Sit' is made from three layers of solid foam.
Therefore the casual sit is not as firm as the formal sit."

So now we know!

I have a casual sit love seat and formal sit sofa from next and I wish I'd got the casual sit in both, it's loads comfier. Although the more I use the formal sit the softer that's becoming.

wowfudge · 25/09/2018 22:19

Hmm - I wonder what state they're in after a couple of years?

PickAChew · 25/09/2018 22:25

I think their casual sit is more slouchy and the formal sit supposed to encourage a more upright sofa experience. I've seen some reviewers rating sofas for slouch vs sitting up and I think next have taken that on board.

I like a firmer sofa, myself. Soft sofas are definitely more suited to the younger, less creaky members of the population.

I am also about to buy a sofa from Next (The Ashford). Now not sure what to do..... casual vs formal?! Casual sounds comfy but wonder if it will stand the test of time?!
Looks like I’ll have to head back for a 4th time!!!

MrsScamander · 28/01/2019 18:54

ElBelle the Ashford sofa is the one that I'm lusting after (and sobbing over the price!)

Which one are you getting?

ElBelle · 28/01/2019 22:29

@MrsScamander I am looking at the cosy marl, a 3 seater and a 2 seater. 10% off you get 2 items and looking at probably interest free finance with them.
Soo much choice for everything! Now I can’t decide casual vs normal...... I thought I was almost at the point of ordering!!! 😩
Originally we were going to go for the Nantucket (I think that’s what it’s called) but the reviews were not very positive so changed our minds!

Bfox82 · 28/05/2019 16:57

Having emailed Next I received the below response: Casual sit is shredded foam that needs plumping twice a week and the normal is a sandwich like block of foam. We offer a 12 month guarantee. However, casual sit is designed more for occasional use and can age quicker. If you’re looking for something that will receive a lot of use I would recommend the standard sit.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 01/06/2019 20:36

I have the sofa in the bottom of the photo. I ordered the casual seat as that’s what I saw in the shop. However they delivered the formal seat and it was so much firmer. Not uncomfortable but definitely not one to curl up on. Would probably hold it’s shape for longer though.
