Wide blinds in a bedroom

Would you

1. Have one roller blind 270cm wide, 135cm deep

Or

1. Have two Roman blinds each 135cm (ish) wide, 135cm deep and hope that the gap between them doesn't let the sun shine in at 5am

(Nowhere sells wide enough Roman blinds).

I still don't like roller blinds, and may have curtains as well.

The one rollerblind, blackout if poss. With curtains.

I much prefer the look of a roman blind but think the one roller would look sleeker than the two.

And as you say, you won't get the strip of light down the middle.

Is there such a thing as a nice roller blind ? I have some samples from online places and they are all rather plasticy. Maybe they have to be to be blackout.

I guess I get them in a neutral colour and then have curtains with a bit more "niceness" to them.

I'm trying to avoid the cinema projection screen look !

John Lewis blind making service are very good, have you tried them ? Not cheap but worth it to get the look you want.

@JennyHolzersGhost - do you know how wide they will go ? I can only find one or two that go that wide in roller, can find anywhere that does Roman that wide.

Contact them and ask if in doubt. But they are custom made so I can’t see any reason other than physics why they would be limited size wise.

@JennyHolzersGhost I think it is physics - I think 2.7m long bars add weight, sling with the fabric weight. Roller blinds are potentially a lot lighter.
