Getting my little girls room painted next week. Can anyone recommend a nice blue that they have been happy with. Room is quite light but don’t want a colour that will make it look dark. She is 8 and definetly wants a blue room! I’ll let her choose but would like a shortlist if possible.

These 2 are very nice and Valspar colours so affordable, we are going with Baby boots as it goes with our paper, they do some lovely clean blue colours in the range we went to BnQ and took loads of sample cards and bluetacked them to the wall and removed the ones we didn't like and then tried them in different lights ( sunlight, at night with light on sort of thing) it really helped

Farrow and ball light blue has a grey ish feel. It's very warm IRL. You can get cheaper paints that colour match fb but think fb paint is "flatter" HTH

They are a great start thanks. Does the blueberry white look a definite blue? It seems to in the picture but want to be sure- will get tester cards when I’ve got an idea of possibles!

First Frost -dulux and think our room is a bluey grey called cotton breeze also dulux but done that in babies room too and had valspa colour match it and prefer the colour matched version

charlieloulou · 23/07/2018 15:07

Yes it's a definite blue colour. The room is east facing.

Alakazam7 · 23/07/2018 15:15

Brilliant thanks- will look at cotton breeze too. Think she wants brighter than I do but we’ll see!

Farrow and Ball borrowed light is a lovely light blue ...we are going to paint our spare room in that. Farrow and Ball skylight is a nice grey-blue too. My daughter asked for blue recently...she is 7...we have not chosen yet, but think we will go for more of a turquoise like dulux Javan dawn or marine splash.....

Alakazam7 · 23/07/2018 22:55

She loves the blueberry white, I’m not sure yet and want to look at others. Will look at the farrow and ball and the marine splash sounds good too so will try that as well. Thanks for the suggestions

Blueberry white is fantastic. One coat dulux stuff makes life so much easier

Alakazam7 · 23/07/2018 23:37

Looked at marine splash but seems to be only for bathrooms. Blueberry white seems to be the one atm but I’m still worried it’s not blue/turquoise enough and I’ll be disappointed any others similar that are a touch bluer?

These Laura Ashley paints are nice blues

The pale seaspray is probably the nicest, it has a good colour without being too dark or cold.

Mylands do a very pretty blue called Lambeth walk, Dulux diamond matt in country sky is also pretty but has a slight greyish undertone.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 25/07/2018 17:48

You can get any dulux colour mixed in any finish though and you can still put bathroom paint anywhere. X

I have Victorian mint by Johnstown’s in my living room and love it.
Almost a light duck egg blue
