What to put in this space?

Quite self explanatory from the photo - I have a space in my living room but can't decide what to fill it with... a plant or a side table (with or without lamp?)?

Would it look strange to have a lamp on a side table in front of the window?

I don't have any small lamps in the room and could do with a couple.

Some kind of tall, standard lamp. Then you'll still be able to get in the cupboards of the unit on the right. (Get something with a bit of colour!)

Plant... but do you use the radiator - would a plant be ok with the heat right there? Small coffee table maybe? Photo frame? Vase for flowers, or other decorative item?

It looks like that cupboard opens in to the space so I'd rearrange the furniture to make the use of space more appealing.
