Quite fancy the distressed/industrial look for our bathroom. Does anyone know of anything to bear in mind re potentially using sheet metal for walls in a bathroom setting? Just want to gen up before having the conversation with the builder

Also where to get said sheet metal from??

Won't sheet metal rust?

Have you looked at marine ply?

decbug · 20/06/2018 12:00

I guess I was hoping the rust would add to the overall distressed look! I take it marine ply is treated so is waterproof? I'm not sure that's quite the look I was going for - but thanks for the suggestion!

I don't think copper rusts and it's very "en vogue"... bet it costs an arm and a leg though!

I really don’t think rusted metal walls will look good in a domestic setting. The rust will come off onto anything it touches. Think of your towels!

Copper tarnishes. Fine if you want a verdigris bathroom.

Can you use metal tiles in a bathroom? www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/metal-tiles

I like the look of those metal tiles - I think the look would be more polished that way though.

Starting to think this may not be the most practical of decor choices though...prob better to stick with a "clean" look. thanks all

The rust will add to the look you want.

TheClitterati · 20/06/2018 17:22

the rust will stain everything :)

I would go for a clean look. The metal tiles might look a bit tacky.
