Help me with soft furnishings

We have some dining room chairs with soft cushion seats. The suede is old and stained so I need to recover them. How do I do this? I have a memory of my mum putting the new material on with a staple gun. What material do I buy? Something cheery I guess but I'm rubbish at this kind of thing!

Have a look on Pinterest for diy dining chair upholstery. You'll find lots of step by step guides. If you want a quick version you'll need to take off the old fabric, perhaps replace the foam and then cut and staple new stuff on. You'll want something fairly heavyweight for that - if you go to John Lewis they'll be able to talk you through it. Good luck!

There is a knack to doing it, and that's making sure you pleat the corners properly so the fabric doesn't bunch as the seat pad doesn't sit back in the frame properly. Also, try and take the old fabric off as suede will drag the fabric on top.

Staples are perfect.

DH runs a soft furnishing/upholstery business. We get a lot of dining room chairs brought in that people have started off Grin
