How to put up nets on large bay window with no recess in rental?

Are there any options apart from using a tension rod to put a net straight across the whole bay? That can feel like it takes a lot of space out of the room. There are already curtains on a track right up against the window.

Command hooks to rest a lightweight pole on.

I use Command hooks on a painted front door year in year out to attach a heavy Christmas wreath then remove the hook. I have also used them on an expensive fireplace mantle.

They remove easily and if you were worried about leaving them up for a long time, you could simply remove them and put new ones up slightly further along the window.

In a previous rented house I sewed curtain header tape to the top of the nets (so I could pull it slightly for that gathered effect) and then just used the header tape to hook over some of the tiny command hooks that I stuck to the window frame. Looked completely normal when done, and the hooks came off when we moved out so I didn't lose my deposit at all.

You could also consider window film if you're after privacy (n.b. check how you get it off again at the end of your rental, though).

Thank you. I had not heard of command hooks before. The windows are UPVC so sticky stuff would be okay.

Would a net rod on command hooks not be knocked down easily by drawing and undrawing the curtains though?

The curtain track would better be replaced with a net rod because it's so near the window, and the curtains put a touch further away - but not really possible with a rental

I have put two sticky backed hooks up with a velcro sticky thing in the frame and the middle of the pole to take some of the weight. I have very large bay windows and have put muslin panel up (hung straight with no gathering) across the middle section. The sides are covered by the curtains.

Command Hooks are adhesive but then amazingly you pull the tab downwards and it removes the tape leaving no marks.

I have been using them for 8 years, they are fab. is a video on it. I just remove them slower than they do.
