Anyone have a hearth but no fireplace?

We have a large tiled hearth infront of a neat hole in the chimney breast, currently housing the router and digital box. Up above it is the tv on the wall.

I want to move the tv off the wall onto a unit at the side however that will leave an empty wall, empty hole and large hearth. We dont have the budget for a log burner.

Whats in/on your hearth if you dont have a fire/fire surround.

We have a clock on the mantel piece and 2 photo frames. On the hearth itself we have a glass vase that has either fresh flowers or artificial ones. Above the heath and mantel piece on the wall we have a massive collage photoframe.

Thanks, we have a good collection of pictures we could put into a nice frame above the "hole".

I had mine bare for ages until I figured out what to do with it. I always think that pictures are one of the best decorations!

Do you have a fire?

No I don't we have just like the same as you described.

Glass vase and artificial flowers sounds great will look for something that will fit.

Used to be just a wicker box. Now I have an electric fire thing that looks like a log burner. We don't use it because it is noisy, but it looks nice!

Next door neighbour has pillar candles.

We have a metal fire basket and some logs. It just doesn't do anything because there is no chimney on the floor above.

candles!

Mixture of logs and candles gives a nice effect. Alternatively an electric fire that looks like a wood burner? I've seen a few on our local Facebook buying and selling page for about £50 second hand.
