Upstairs landing

So this is a weird question, but since I left home 20 years ago, I’ve never lived in a house with a proper landing. Our new house has a gorgeous big upstairs landing (too big if you ask me, but not worth the expense of changing).

So my question is - those of you with generous landings, what furniture, if any, do you have there? Drawers for linens? We currently don’t have laundry baskets in our bedrooms - it’s all kept in the bathroom but as the new bathroom is smaller I thought about putting that on the landing? (We have a 4x4 Kallax with wicker baskets so the washing can be pre sorted into colours)

What’s on your landing?

We have a full length mirror on the wall at the end of the landing, radiator covers, photo frames in the wall, and a wooden storage bench that I painted white, and a laundry basket that is constantly overflowing

I think linens or washing is a good idea.

We have still have ain airing cupboard for linens, so the landing has a wide draw unit with random stuff in it like lightbulbs, electrical extensions, board games, tennis balls etc.

And another small table with lamp.

I like the idea of a big mirror! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We have a load of bookcases we don't need that were in another room when we moved in. DP won't let me get rid of them in case them come in handy.

The nice part of the landing has an upholstered chair and a low bookcase I do like. There's also an occasional table I intend to put something on one day.

We don't have a landing big enough but MIL has an Ikea hermes chest of draws with photos etc on top, a friend has got an armchair and small bookcase in hers and before had it as a bit of a snug as the kids but it's so big it's nearly a box room! 😂

I have an old school desk with children's chairs and a chair for me with a big rug .. the kids can potter about on the landing a between bedrooms then.

If you've got the space I think you can do better than laundry storage!

Bookcases and a huge soft squidgy armchair that you can snuggle into when reading

It also has a huge window on one wall

And large full length mirror

We have small armchair and desk with lamp. Also console table with a vase.
We use to have loads of stuff, boxes etc that overflowed from other rooms, but cleared it all and looks much better now especially when people stay overnight and I don’t have to worry about them tripping over the Xmas decorations 😀
